Hot Topic: Match Me If You Can
Meetups, personal ads, speed dating, blind dates, going to parties… so many possibilities, and yet it sometimes feels like in 2026 finding the perfect match is an almost superhuman task. It’s a subject we all deal with – so come and talk about dating with us!
How do people get to know one another today, and how does it (not) work? Join us to find inspiration, learn interesting facts, watch a few films, and perhaps even meet someone.
Pragueshorts presents another edition of Hot Topic – discussions with invited guests, designed to go with our film program. Together, we will talk about the possibilities and pitfalls of modern dating online and off, and in the end we will try out a rapid version for ourselves.
Before our first date, however, a daunting task stands before us – creating the perfect profile on Tinder, Bumble, Feeld, or Grindr. But how? And then what? The answer (of course) is offered by a true expert – Slavoj Žižek in Professor Slavoj Žižek on the Problem with Online Dating. In addition to the online world, people have also been returning to meeting and dating face-to-face. One option is speed dating. What is it, and how does it work? We’ll find out thanks to the eponymous short film and our guests from Meet Me, an organization founded by three friends at university in response to an epidemic of loneliness and with the aim of creating a safe place for meeting others.
We are also joined by Veronika Vytejčková from the Institute of Modern Love, an organization dedicated to psychotherapy and education in relation to interpersonal relationships. Vytejčková will talk about how love is a skill and how we can always improve ourselves at love and dating.
Other interesting guests with practical and theoretical experience are getting ready to swipe right – we will announce them soon.
The program concludes with a chance to try out informal speed dating in the cinema lobby.
Pragueshorts invites you on a date. No expectations!
